Ready for 100

In 2017, Columbia City Council unanimously approved a resolution establishing a community-wide goal of transitioning to 100 percent clean and renewable energy by 2036.

In 2023, City Council revisited the resolution to include a more detailed plan of action, a roadmap to generate 75 MW of renewable energy by 2036.

Energy Conservation

Energy conservation is one of the easiest ways to reduce emissions that cause climate change and also a valuable way for businesses and residents to save money. The City of Columbia encourages citizens to review how they use energy at home and work. In addition, the cleanest unit of energy is the one not created, so conservation is vital to Ready for 100.

Small changes can add up to energy savings. Start with small changes such as switching to LED light bulbs or caulking around windows and doors. Then, look into larger commitments such as adding insulation or switching to a tankless water heater.
